Housing support
Housing Connect
Whether you need somewhere safe tonight or help to find and keep a home, Housing Connect can help you understand your options and take the next step.
The Housing Connect system
If you don’t have somewhere safe to stay, or you’re worried about losing your home, support is available. You can ask for help before your situation becomes a crisis.
Housing Connect supports people experiencing homelessness, at risk of losing their home or needing help to access suitable housing.
Depending on your circumstances, they can help with:
- Exploring crisis accommodation options.
- Applying for social housing.
- Finding an affordable private rental.
- Applying for financial assistance with bond or rent arrears.
- Connecting with other support services.

What happens when you contact them?
You can call Housing Connect on 1800 800 588, available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week if you have nowhere safe to sleep tonight.
For general housing assistance, call 1800 800 588, Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm.
The team will talk with you about your housing situation and assess the support you need.
They can explain the housing options you may be eligible for, help with applications and discuss your next steps. If you need longer-term support, they can refer you to an appropriate service.
